DISPOSAL OF AEROSOL CANS
In addition to propellants, aerosol cans often contain hazardous substances that pose fire and explosion risks. This means that they are classed as hazardous waste and must be treated separately in the disposal process. As an experienced hazardous waste disposal company, REMONDIS Italia ensures that full, partially empty and empty aerosol cans are transported safely and recycled in an environmentally friendly manner at a specialised recycling facility.
Whether paint and varnish sprays, deodorants or pesticides – aerosol cans are used in many areas. In addition to propellants such as propane, butane or DME, they often contain other hazardous substances. As they can never be completely emptied during regular use, even supposedly "empty" cans are considered hazardous waste. They must therefore not be disposed of with household or commercial waste. REMONDIS Italia transports collected aerosol cans of any type and in any fill condition and ensures that they are handled safely. Thanks to the cooperation within the REMONDIS Group, the collected cans can be professionally recycled and utilised in specialised facilities.

Cross-border network
Thanks to our network within the REMONDIS Group, we benefit from a large number of sites and waste disposal facilities. This allows us to support you quickly and flexibly.
Aerosol cans contain important raw materials such as aluminium and tinplate. To ensure that these can be processed and recycled, it is important that they are disposed of in the correct way. We at REMONDIS Italia can collect the aerosol cans you have collected and transport them to a recycling facility. One such facility operated by REMONDIS Industrie Service is located in Bramsche, Germany. Here, trained employees sort the delivered aerosol cans and remove any that may have been discarded. The cans are then pressed under inert conditions, separating the three material streams contained (propellants, liquids and metals) from each other. The propellants contained are used as an energy source, while liquids are used for thermal utilisation. The metals contained, such as aluminium and tinplate, are used to produce pellets that industrial companies use to manufacture new aerosol cans. Each compact consists of around 150 spray aerosols pressed together.
